Though we have been through a number of search industry trends that were there at the beginnings of this year and last, there are few which will be coming over in this year 2018 and will hold a greater prominence in the same.
Voice search and digital assistants
This technology holds a big relevance on the way we people would communicate in the time to come. According to Google, 1 out of 5 searches coming are from Voice mode. Having said that, this could be the new trend setter in the coming months as From a 5 year old kid to an 80 years old grandma, all can search for what they looking for online by just saying it on their phone.
Link building
Link Building will hold an utmost importance more than ever while searching out for quality links.
A successful SEO strategy in 2018 will be more focused on building great business relationships, supporting a business to develop helpful contacts and links that will hold great relevance in the longer time period.
User experience
While Google has confirmed with its update that Greater the user experience would going to be in the coming year, more probability would be there of the site or the blog to come up in Google search rankings. We already know the fact that a good user experience would increase the user interaction time and this would also further assists the business to grow.
Snippets
Featured snippets are finding a relevant place when it comes to SEO strategy in the coming times. Gaining a featured snippet in search requires catering to a specific combination of factors, which has opened up SEO beyond the traditional race to the top of Google.
Mobile-first index
“To make our results more useful, we’ve begun experiments to make our index mobile-first. Although our search index will continue to be a single index of websites and apps, our algorithms will eventually primarily use the mobile version of a site’s content to rank pages from that site, to understand structured data, and to show snippets from those pages in our results. Of course, while our index will be built from mobile documents, we’re going to continue to build a great search experience for all users, whether they come from mobile or desktop devices.”
This above statement by google more or less confirms the fact that if your website isn’t Mobile friendly or isn’t optimized for mobile version, there is less chance that it will be ranked higher on either Mobile or desktop devices. While a definite time period hasn’t been announced yet for implementing this mobile-first index thing, a lot has been said about its implementation happening early this year. At SMX Advanced last June, Google’s Gary Illyes has signaled at 2018 as the likely deployment year for the mobile-first index.
